There are stories that are closer to fiction than reality. Never the less, they are true and real. A friend who spent this last weekend in Madinah told me about an incident he witnessed himself. In the Masjid of the Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam, a young man was praying Sunnah prayer. An older man wanted to walk in front of him so the young man stretched his arm to indicate that he was praying. The older man, agitated by the gesture slapped him on his face with the slippers he was carrying! My friend jumped with other men and grabbed this man, overcoming their own urge to beat the …. out of him. The other man continued to pray peacefully until he concluded his prayer only to ask them gently to let him go. I couldn’t help but envy this young man for his tolerance. The Prophet salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam said: “Whoever suppresses his anger at the time when he has the means to act upon it, Allah will fill his heart with contentment on the Day of Resurrection” in another narration: “Allah will call him before all of mankind on the Day of Resurrection, and will let him choose of the Hoor al-I’een whoever he wants”. Remember this next time your blood boils when someone insults you. It is not worth it! via Assim Al Hakeem
