Being a mom rocks. Motherhood is awesome. It’s the best job I’ve ever had. Seriously. No, I don’t love every single part of it. I wasn’t a big fan of poopy diapers or potty training. I have an excuse to own cool gadgets and video games. Decorating for any holiday) is a lot more fun with appreciative kids. The peanut butter jar never gets a chance to expire. Before kids, I threw out a few jars that had expired and were stinky. I get to watch all the silly animated movies that remind me of my own childhood. Hugs on demand. As a kid, my brother didn’t share his toys. Now I get to play with all the cool boy toys and no one can stop me. I can blame all strange smells on my children. If I accidentally spill something on my shirt, I no longer look like a klutz. Obviously, my kids made a mess on my clothes. No one thinks I’m weird for crying a sappy commercials. My giant suitcase sized purse is finally considered “normal” by my peers. If someone drops by unexpectedly, I can blame the mountain of laundry on my child’s recent “incident” rather than confessing that some layers of the laundry pile are over six months old. I don’t have to take the trash out if I don’t want to. I have “people” for that now. I am now confident in my baking abilities, as long as it involves chocolate. My kids are easily impressed by sprinkles on just about anything.
