Rain Dear children, Do you get annoyed when it starts to rain? You can't play outside and if you do your mother shouts at you for getting the floor muddy! At times like this, Remember that Allah (swt) sends the rain. Allah tells us in the Qur'an: "Allah is he who sends out the winds so they raise a cloud, then he spreads it out in the sky as he pleases, and he breaks it up so that you see rain coming out from inside it; Then when he causes it to fall upon whom he pleases of his servents, lo! They are joyful"(30:48) "Plants, flowers, trees, people and animals - all living things cannot survive without water. Allah also tells us that he "Made from water every living thing" (21:30) Here is a du'a that the Prophet Muhammad (saw) said when asking Allah for rain: "O Allah, give water to your slaves and you r animals, and spread your mercy, and give life to your dead land." [Muwatta] Here are some other prayers that the Prophet(saw) used to say for rain. See if you can learn them: Du'a for rain Allahumma agithna. Allahumma agithan. Allah agithna. O Allah, send us rain! O Allah, sned us rain! O Allah send us rain! [Bukhari & Muslim] When it's raining Allahumma sayyiban naafi'an O Allah, bring helpful rain clouds - [Bukhari] After it rains Mutirnaa bi fadlillahi wa rahmatihi It has rained by the bounty of Allah and his mercy- [Bukhari and muslim] Shukr Rain is a blessing from Allah, and it's important to be grateful to him for it. Shukr means "thanks". It is not just about saying thank you. It is about meaning it from your heart and feeling grateful. In islam it means thanking Allah for every thing hes given you and you should always be thankful and grateful for that. By having shukr You do what Allah wants you to do, and You keep away from the things Allah wants you to keep way from. Dhikr Dhikr means to remember Allah as much as you can, where ever you are. Like playing football for example you should remember Allah. This way you can win the game with out cheating. You should aslways remember Allah but by saying: Bismillah - In the name of allah Alhamdulillah - Praise is (only) for Allah Jazakallah - May Allah reward you Allahu Akbar - Allah is the greatest You bringing Allah closer to you. "If you count the blessings of Allah, you will never be able to count them" [14:34]
